ALEXEI GEORGYEVICH YAVLENSKY (1864-1941)
Painter in oils. Studied at the Military school in Moscow (1877-84), at the Academy of Arts (1889-93), I. Repin's studio in St.-Petersburg (from 1890), A.Azbe's studio in Munich (from 1896). Participant of exhibitions from 1903. Member of unions and participant of exhibitions of Munich and Berlin Sezessionen, "The Autumnal Salon" in Paris, "The World of Art" in St.-Petersburg, the Moscow Association of Artists, "The Jack of Diamonds", "Blauen Reiter". From 1903 to 1905 travelled in France. In 1909 together with G.Munter and V.Kandinsky founded a new association of artists in Munich - "Blauen Reiter" (in 1911). In 1915 settled in Switzerland.
