MSTISLAV VALERIANOVICH DOBUZHINSKY (1875-1957)
Graphic artist, oil painter. Studied at the Drawing school of the Society for Promotion of Arts in St. Petersburg (1885-87), at A.Azbe's and Sz.Hollosy's studio in Munich (1899-1900). Member of union "The World of Art" (1902-24), of the Union of Russian Artists (1904-09). Worked at Petersburg theatres and the theatre enterprise of S.P.Dyaghilev in Paris (from 1914). Taught at the Academy of Arts (1918-23), at private and popular art schools. Produced landscapes, portraits, history pictures. Developed traditions of Russian graphic art; subtly sensed the nature of a book, master of literary style in book graphic art.
