ZINAIDA YEVGENYEVNA SEREBRYAKOVA (1884-1967) Prominent Russian neoclassicist painter, master of genre painting, landscape, portrait, still-life. Studied in St. Petersburg, at M.K.Tenisheva's school-workshop (from 1901) under I.Ye.Repin, at O.E.Braz's workshop (1903-05), in Paris at Academie de la Grand Chomier (1905-06). Member of association "The World of Art" (1912-17). Travelled a lot. Main creative principles were influenced by the art of Italian masters of the XVIth-XVIIth centuries and by the creative traditions of A.G.Venitsianov. Her works reveal rare plastic beauty and the harmony of colour proportions. Worked much in pastel. From 1924 lived and worked in Paris.
