NATALIA SERGEEVNA GONCHAROVA (1881-1962)
Known Russian artist, graphic artist, illustrator, theatre designer. Together with Larionov she was one of the pioneers of advant-guard in Russian painting of the early XXth century. In 1915 settled abroad, where designed numerous ballet and musical performances (in particular - in S.Dyaghilev's enterprise). These very works won her a European fame. The sketch displayed at the exhibition was intended for ballet "The Sorochintsy Fair" by Musorgsky staged in 1926 at the theatre of Champs-Elysees. The scenery's scetches by N.Goncharova are kept in the Museum of modern art (G.Pompidou's center) in Paris. Later the artist twice turned her attention to designing of this ballet.
