BORIS IZRAILEVICH ANISFELD (1878-1973)
Painter, theatre artist. Studied at the Odessa School of Drawing (1895-1900) under K. Kostandi and G.A. Ladyzhensky, then at the Academy of Arts in St.-Petersburg under I.Ye. Repin and D.N. Kardovsky. He made drawings for magazines of political satire "Zhupel" and " Adskaya Pochta" (1905). Member of union "The World of Art ", participated in all its exhibitions from 1910 to 1917. In 1917 left for Japan, then moved to the USA. Worked as a designer for theater performances, painted still-lives, portraits, symbolical and biblical scenes; participated in many exhibitions of Russian artists living abroad.
