ISAAK IZRAILEVICH BRODSKY (1884-1939)
Outstanding Soviet painter and graphic artist. Studied at the Odessa Art School (1895-1902) under L.D.Iorini, K.K.Kostandi, G.A. Ladyzhensky, at the Higher Art School of the Academy of Arts under Ya.F.Tsionglinsky (1902-1908), I.Ye.Repin (from 1903). Member of the Union of Russian Artists, the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia, the Society named after A.I.Kuindzi and others. In 1934-39 he was the director of the All-Russia Academy of Fine Arts. The Honored Art worker of the RSFSR (from 1932), Doctor of art criticism (from 1939). Creator of historico-revolutionary pictures, portraits and landscapes.
