MIKHAIL FYODOROVICH LARIONOV (1881-1964)
Painter in oils, graphic artist, theatre artist. Studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under I.Levitan, V.Serov. In 1900 he got acquainted with N.Goncharova, a colleague, then the wife of the artist. Participant of exhibitions from 1906 (" The Autumnal Salon", "The World of Art", "The Union of Russian Artists" and others). From 1907- the beginning of the "primitive" period, became the founder of "neoprimitivism". In 1907 organized exhibitions "Garland - Stephanos" (together with D.Burlyuk) in St. Petersburg, in 1908 - organizer and participant of exhibitions "The Link" (Kiev), "The Golden Fleece ", in 1909-1910 - of V.Izdebsky`s atelier (Odessa, Kiev, Riga, St.Petersburg), in 1910 - "The Jack of Diamonds", in 1912-1914 - exhibition organizer of associations " Donkey`s Tail " (1912), "Target" (1913), "No. 4" (1914). In 1910-1911 created "soldier's" series, in 1912 became a founder of "rayonism" (together with N.Goncharova). In 1915 left Russia, worked with S.Dyaghilev. Personal exhibitions of M.Larionov were shown in many countries of the world, in Moscow and Leningrad.
